High School Placement Test
The true ROCKSTARS of the school, our Eighth Graders, take the high school placement test.
Parents: You will need to register your 8th grader for the HSPT. This information should be available to you now.
Students: You should be preparing for this test with the HSPT book you received prior to summer break. Next to the SAT, this is probably the most important test you will take during your teen years. You have already invested a lot in your education, do not stop now! Think of this test as a celebration of learning -- show what you know!
GENERAL HSPT HINTS
The HSPT is tight on time allowances for each section of the test. This is different from the TerraNova and Scantron. We will remind the students of the need to work quickly and carefully.
Make educated guesses. There is no penalty or deduction for incorrect answers. Therefore, do not leave any blanks on your answer sheet.
Visit websites giving additional practice with synonyms, antonyms, analogies, and logic (a few are listed below). Check out a different review book or visit HSPT practice sites. (I have given some resources below.)
On the eve of testing day, get your materials/uniform ready and have a good night's sleep. On the test day, be sure to eat a nutritious (and substantial) breakfast, avoid stressful situations, and be on time to school.
